  • Coolest Tweet I found on Twitter!

    GET UP QUICK

Success is determined not by how few times you get knocked down, but by how quickly you get back up. In fact, those who achieve the most are those who have the most setbacks. You must make the attempt in order to achieve, and not every attempt is going to yield the intended results. Not by a long shot.

The setbacks are going to come. No matter what you’re working to achieve, there will be obstacles popping up to block your path. There will be disappointments big and small, on a regular basis.

But you never have to let them get the best of you. Though you won’t avoid getting knocked down, you can choose how quickly to get back up. So make the smart choice. Get up quick. Get going again. Get the disappointment behind you, where it belongs.

Wallowing in anger, resentment, self-pity and despair will only put you further behind. That’s not what you want. Let all that negativity go. Remind yourself of your purpose. Remind yourself of how much you want it, and why.

Get back up. Get back in the game. Get over it. Get going. And do it now. The faster you recover, the more successful you’ll be.

  • Blah, Blah, Blah, Blog!

Before I start this blog let me be clear! I am a finance major and so I deal in dollars and cents and I have spent the last 3 1/2 years building an internet marketing solutions company www.nexonta.com ( you pick up a few things along the way) and so while I am not a programmer I am able to look after your bottom line when it comes to IT and online advertising ( Which is a huge industry today ) while anyone will tell you however that the internet does not start and end with Google ( Allot of people will be shocked by that last comment ) it is fundamentally important to keep up on other aspects of IT and new trends in OP for you novice that does not mean “Ocean Pacific” it means operating systems and so I felt it important to write a techie blog just to show off my depth to which I study technology applications. Today’s lessons will focus on “Cloud Computing” and “Lamp stack” For all you laymen and laywomen out there the first one Cloud Computing just means a bunch of servers all working together to run your IT needs and the other “Lamp” just means free stuff (applications) swag when you buy Linux hosting but to show off our techie brilliance I will write Techie for those of you who read my blog if anyone does at this point!

CLOUD COMPUTING is the inter connectivity of computer servers is the first element of that characterizes cloud computing. This characteristic can enable the organization to carry out a variety of tasks in different locations. If there are issues with download capacity or virtual memory, then it allows for the specialization of different servers so that you can split the burden of the information technology activities. This is what good band width management is about. This option is quite useful if you do not have the resources or the capacity to provide your own in house infrastructure.
That way you could access the services without dealing with some of the challenges that come about when you are building infrastructure for cloud computing. Cloud computing advantage therefore cloud computing can facilitate the proper management of information technology resources within the organization. Some organizations have decided that the best option is to look for the cloud computing provider that specializes in platform. The platform allows you to carry out all the functionality that you would have done under the cloud computing system but then it gives you leeway in terms of undertaking the other activities. This option is excellent for those organizations which have the technical skills but require a platform to operate their cloud computing schemes. Google Apps is a prime example of this type of application service. This type of provision can be complemented by software services that give you the technological capacity to complete your operating system.

LAMP is an acronym for a solution stack of free, open source software, originally coined from the first letters of Linux (operating system), Apache HTTP Server, MySQL (database software), and PHP, principal components to build a viable general purpose web server.  The precise combination of software included in a LAMP package may vary, especially with respect to the web scripting software, as PHP may be replaced by Perl or Python. Similar terms exist for essentially the same software suite (AMP) running on other operating systems, such as MS Windows (WAMP), Mac OS (MAMP), Solaris (SAMP), or OpenBSD (OpAMP).

Though the original authors of these programs did not design them all to work specifically with each other, the development philosophy and tool sets are shared and were developed in close conjunction. The software combination has become popular because it is free of cost, open-source, and therefore easily adaptable, and because of the ubiquity of its components which are bundled with most current Linux distributions.

When used in combination they represent a solution stack of technologies that support application servers. Michael Kunze this German fellow coined the acronym LAMP in an article for the German computing magazine in April 1998. The article aimed to show that a bundle of free software could provide a viable alternative to commercial packages. Knowing the IT-world’s love of acronyms, Kunze came up with LAMP as a marketing-like term to increase the popularity of free software. O’Reilly and MySQL AB have made the term popular among English-speakers. Indeed, MySQL AB has since based some of its marketing efforts on the popularity of the LAMP stack.

So there you have it. I have just simplified a few really cool tech terms and so the next time you are in a board meeting and you want to impress the higher ups ( Only thing is it would help if you didn’t work in the tech department cause then you would be just being obnoxious) suggest cost cutting of your information technology needs by implementing a Cloud Computing system and I guarantee you that you will get that date with Julie from accounting and probably make VP by the end of the week!

  • SEO 101 AGAIN!!

This marketing tool is used to imply that the customer is given a little extra information beyond books that include only 100 items. This context as a slang term when referring to “a 101 document” what is usually referred to as a statistical survey or overview of some topic. Well this is a simple step by step guide to those of you who want to retire sailing your respective yachts ( Could be golfing or traveling) but it is essential that you understand the benefit of online marketing and start to seriously allocate funds to online branding as this industry is just in it’s infantsy and so those of us who get in early into this practice will benefit from present cost effective online marketing and blogging techniques.

The first order of business is to get an industry relative domain for example toronto dentist dot com so many clients tell me that they would rather have their company name as their domain name and I say to them would you rather only people who know your company already coming through your doors to do business with you or would you rather attract new business. You would be surprised allot of clients say that they would still prefer to have their company name as the main domain and so I would generally suggest that they register two mains with us ( nexonta.com also offers Domain registration and hosting ) one for the corporate identity and emails and one for the website foundation.

Second mute point people it is essential that you spend some quality time with your computer getting your message out there. Look, customers are constantly scouring the internet for deals and just to see what’s new and it is only through updating your social networks as well as key word adjustment and constant blogging as well as tweeting that you penetrate the fiercely competitive internet market. There is no such thing as perfect SEO, since if you have enough time and money you can dominate what ever industry that your business operates in. Formulate a plan and be consistent and the results will come. Nexonta Technologies Inc is a growing organization and it is our mission to be one of the best and largest internet service providers internationally in 5 years. Keep in mind the art of SEO is roughly 10 years old but the Google algorithm changes every few months and so “stay thirsty” for current knowledge my friends.

  • Great Minds Tweet, Follow Some!

Twitter is a social networking and micro-blogging service, owned and operated by Twitter Inc., that enables its users to send and read other user’s messages called tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters displayed on the author’s profile page. Tweets are publicly visible by default, however senders can restrict message delivery to their friends list. Users may subscribe to other author tweets—this is known as following and subscribers are known as followers. As of late 2009, users can follow lists of authors instead of following individual authors. All users can send and receive tweets via the Twitter website, compatible external applications (such as, for smart-phones), or by Short Message Service (SMS) available in certain countries. While the service is free, accessing it through SMS may incur phone service provider fees. The website is based out in San Bruno, California near San Francisco (where the website was first based). Twitter also has servers and offices in San Antonio, Texas and Boston, Massachusetts.

Since its creation in 2006 by Jack Dorsey, Twitter has gained notability and popularity worldwide and currently has more than 100 million users worldwide. It is sometimes described as the “SMS of the Internet.” The use of Twitter’s application programming interface (API) for sending and receiving SMS from other applications often dominates the direct use of Twitter.
A social network service focuses on building and reflecting of social networks or social relations among people, e.g., who share interests and/or activities. A social network service essentially consists of a representation of each user (often a profile), his/her social links, and a variety of additional services. Most social network services are web based and provide means for users to interact over the internet, such as e-mail and instant messaging. Although online community services are sometimes considered as a social network service in a broader sense, social network service usually means an individual-centered service whereas online community services are group-centered. Social networking sites allow users to share ideas, activities, events, and interests within their individual networks.

The main types of social networking services are those which contain category places Face-book, Twitter widely used worldwide; My-space and Linked-In being the most widely used in North America. There have been some attempts to standardize these services to avoid the need to duplicate entries of friends and interests. Although some of the largest social networks were founded on the notion of digitizing real world connections, many networks focus on categories from books and music to non-profit business to motherhood as ways to provide both services and community to individuals with shared interests.

One of the real benefits to an application like twitter is it also allows individuals to connect to those other wise out of reach like President Obama and The Dali lama or perhaps Oprah in real time and realize that these power players ponder and hypothesize the same way that you and I do. Tweeting will help certain individuals realize that even the Diane Sawyers of the world have human moments and so while these social applications can be argued are contributing to the notion that people are becoming more and more dependent on technology even for our human interaction. I being an optimist chose to see the positive with an application like twitter which connects it’s users to some of the great thinkers of today. So follow someone that you admire and aspire to emulate on twitter you just might learn something new today while giving you your own personal soap box to sound off from your keyboard.

Tweet Away my friends, it does a mind good!

  • Changing The Way Your Company Does Business!

A website (also spelled Web site) officially styled website is a collection of related web pages, images, videos or other digital assets that are addressed relative to a common Uniform Resource Locator (URL), often consisting of only the domain name, or the IP address, and the root path in an Internet Protocol-based network. A web site is hosted on at least one web server, accessible via a network such as the Internet or a private local area network. Today it is extremely important to have a proper website as this is where 85% of businesses and individuals go to find companies and individuals to do business with. Most corporations today are trading in there long time business affiliations for better rates and pricing structures with your competitors. Never has there been more competition and thin lines in industry than today and so when I am speaking with a client and they say that they are not sure if they need a website I say to them well you are fine for today’s market but there are only a limited amount of good domains available for each industry for example Montreal hotel there is the dot com, dot ca and the dot net these are the dot extensions which get optimized the rest are generally not competing for first place Google ranking.

A web page is a document, typically written in plain text interspersed with formatting instructions of Hypertext Markup Language (HTML, XHTML). A web page may incorporate elements from other websites with suitable markup anchors. In your anchor text there is usually only room for long tail keywords after the great domains are taken and this gets expensive. My suggestion to you is right now grab as many good domains as you possibly can and build a great SEO friendly website and be ahead of the curve as in two years when companies stop using local and national directories to find what they are looking for competition to appear on the coveted first page of Google will be fierce and very expensive.

Web pages are accessed and transported with the Hyper text Transfer Protocol (HTTP), which may optionally employ encryption (HTTP Secure, HTTPS) to provide security and privacy for the user of the web page content. The user’s application, often a web browser, renders the page content according to its HTML markup instructions onto a display terminal. This is how each individual website is housed and is also called hosting these fees can range in price for 50$ per year to 200$ per year depending on the features as well as package that you choose. I would strongly suggest that you build a free standing site as opposed to a site which is hosted on a company’s server as these sites have a hard time being picked up by Google as the code is not written for optimization. Also keep in mind that it is very important to remember to have your meta tags as well as enough content in your site for the Google bots as this is how you get better positioning as well as how you are industry ranked.

All publicly accessible websites collectively constitute the World Wide Web. Remember SEO or search engine optimization was just a buzz word two years ago well now it is the standard and so don’t get left behind speak to one of our sales reps and get your self a proper SEO website today and change the way your company does business. Let them come to you!
The pages of a website can usually be accessed from a simple Uniform Resource Locator (URL) called the homepage. The URLs of the pages organize them into a hierarchy, although hyper linking between them conveys the reader’s perceived site structure and guides the reader’s navigation of the site.

Some websites require a subscription to access some or all of their content. Examples of subscription websites include many business sites, parts of news websites, academic journal websites, gaming websites, message boards, web-based e-mail, social networking websites, websites providing real-time stock market data, and websites providing various other services (e.g. websites offering storing and/or sharing of images, files and so forth). The internet is growing everyday with no signs of slowing or stopping and this means that competition to stay on top is growing as well what costs about 1500.00 to 2000 dollars today to be positioned well on Google with cost about $5000 to $10000 two years form now. It is all based on supply and demand and there is limited first page real estate.

  • Gossip Blog!

Jobless in America shout out! this is a tweet 3 minutes ago by Katie Couric who I follow on twitter one because she is lovely and two because she has back bone and tells it like it is and also Katie has integrity. The small world phenomenon is the hypothesis that the chain of social acquaintances required to connect one arbitrary person to another arbitrary person anywhere in the world is generally short. The concept gave rise to the famous phrase six degrees of separation after a 1967 small world experiment by psychologist Stanley Milgram. In Milgram’s experiment, a sample of US individuals were asked to reach a particular target person by passing a message along a chain of acquaintances. The average length of successful chains turned out to be about five intermediaries or six separation steps (the majority of chains in that study actually failed to complete). The methods (and ethics as well) of Milgram’s experiment was later questioned by an American scholar, and some further research to replicate Milgram’s findings had found that the degrees of connection needed could be higher. Academic researchers continue to explore this phenomenon as Internet-based communication technology has supplemented the phone and postal systems available during the times of Milgram. A recent electronic small world experiment at Columbia University found that about five to seven degrees of separation are sufficient for connecting any two people through e-mail. Which brings us to face book. Twenty years ago it would have been impossible to successfully nurture 10 close friends while today through social applications like Face book we are able to stay active in the lives of easily 100 or so of our closest friends.

The last month really has been a test of resilience on my part running a company not from a business perspective(As business is very good every company today needs an SEO friendly website we are going to have a fanominal 4 years) but from a social perspective. I was working with a programmer who made it clear to everyone within ear shot that he owned Nexonta Technologies Inc which is not true (generally the name on the incorporation ,banking and owing the government all that money is the owner) and this is where the problems started since when you put something out there as strongly as he did then when things don’t go your way it could be pretty embarrassing for you and your reputation and so what does one do in this case well reasonable well adjusted people don’t find them selves in these situations and so they don’t have to have an answer for this one, however after going through the past 6 weeks events I will let you know what an unreasonable person does. They try to close your company and steel your clients and ruin your personal relationships all because they were exposed in a lie. It has been a trying 6 weeks but not for the reasons you might think it is more because of the motivation behind the whole mess which was greed and jealousy.

Well that is it for opening up about what was an otherwise challenging month at Nexonta Technologies Inc. We have since replaced the programmer and the work is coming along very well and as well we are expanding in September to a large facility in downtown Montreal and will be looking for about 5 to 6 new programmers to compliment our growing sales team. Thank you for all of your support and patience through these crazy times. I tweeted about the whole thing so check us out at http://@nexonta.com on twitter.

  • What’s in a Domain?

A domain name is an identification label that defines a realm of administrative autonomy, authority, or control on the Internet, based on the Domain Name System (DNS).An important purpose of domain names is to provide easily recognizable and memorizable names to numerically addressed Internet resources. This abstraction allows any resource (e.g., website) to be moved to a different physical location in the address topology of the network, globally or locally in an intranet. Such a move usually requires changing the IP address of a resource and the corresponding translation of this IP address to and from its domain name.

Domain names are often referred to simply as domains and domain name registrants are frequently referred to as domain owners, although domain name registration with a registrar does not confer any legal ownership of the domain name, only an exclusive right of use. Domain names are often seen in analogy to real estate in that (1) domain names are foundations on which a website (like a house or commercial building) can be built and the highest “quality” domain names, like sought-after real estate, tend to carry significant value, usually due to their online brand-building potential, use in advertising, search engine optimization, and many other criteria. Keep in mind for SEO purposes that the only domains commonly used for SEO are the .com’s and the .net’s and the .ca’s here in Canada all other dot extensions are usually for information purposes or other.

Registries and registrars usually charge an annual fee for the service of delegating a domain name to a user and providing a default set of name servers. Often this transaction is termed a sale or lease of the domain name, and the registrant may sometimes be called an “owner”, but no such legal relationship is actually associated with the transaction, only the exclusive right to use the domain name. More correctly, authorized users are known as “registrants” or as “domain holders”. Depending on the industry or the supply and demand domain can range in price from $3.00 dollars per year to $50,000 and up if the domain is being searched enough it is worth money to the company or individual who can turn those searches into profit.

Some domain name registries, often called network information centers (NIC), also function as registrars to end-users. The major generic top-level domain registries, such as for the COM, NET, ORG, INFO domains and others, use a registry-registrar model consisting of hundreds of domain name registrars (see lists at ICANN or VeriSign). In this method of management, the registry only manages the domain name database and the relationship with the registrars. The registrants (users of a domain name) are customers of the registrar, in some cases through additional layers of resellers.

Domain names are used in various networking contexts and application-specific naming and addressing purposes. They are organized in subordinate levels (subdomains) of the DNS root domain, which is nameless. The first-level set of domain names are the top-level domains (TLDs), including the generic top-level domains (gTLDs), such as the prominent domains com, net and org, and the country code top-level domains (ccTLDs). Below these top-level domains in the DNS hierarchy are the second-level and third-level domain names that are typically open for reservation by end-users that wish to connect local area networks to the Internet, run web sites, or create other publicly accessible Internet resources. The registration of these domain names is usually administered by domain name registrars who sell their services to the public.

  • Do I need A SEO friendly Website? Duh!

A website (also spelled Web site) is a collection of related web pages, images, videos or other digital assets that are addressed relative to a common Uniform Resource Locator (URL) for example www.nexonta.com , often consisting of only the domain name, or the IP address, and the root path (‘/’) in an Internet Protocol-based network. Web analytics is the measurement, collection, analysis and reporting of internet data for purposes of understanding and optimizing web usage

Web analytics is not just a tool for measuring website traffic but can be used as a tool for business research and market research. Web analytics applications can also help companies measure the results of traditional print advertising campaigns. It helps one to estimate how the traffic to the website changed after the launch of a new advertising campaign. Web analytics provides data on the number of visitors, page views, etc to gauge the traffic and popularity trends which helps doing the market research.

There are two categories of web analytics; off-site and on-site web analytics.

Off-site web analytics refers to web measurement and analysis regardless of whether you own or maintain a website. It includes the measurement of a website’s potential audience (opportunity), share of voice (visibility), and buzz (comments) that is happening on the Internet as a whole. It is very important to have an SEO friendly website as if your website cannot be picked up and displayed in the search results then your site will not be found and this is the whole point of having a website in the first place which is to appear in the Google search results so that clients can find you when they are searching for your product, service or information.

  • SEO 101

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of a web site or a web page in search engines via the “natural” or un-paid (“organic” or “algorithmic”) search results. Other forms of search engine marketing (SEM) target paid listings. In general, the earlier (or higher on the page), and more frequently a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine. SEO may target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, video search and industry-specific vertical search engines. This gives a web site web presence. The number calculated by the algorithm, PageRank, is a function of the quantity and strength of inbound links. PageRank estimates the likelihood that a given page will be reached by a web user who randomly surfs the web, and follows links from one page to another. In effect, this means that some links are stronger than others, as a higher PageRank page is more likely to be reached by the random surfer.

By 2004, search engines had incorporated a wide range of undisclosed factors in their ranking algorithms to reduce the impact of link manipulation such as keyword frequency, meta tags, headings, links and site structure Google says it ranks sites using more than 200 different signals In 2005 Google began personalizing search results for each user. Depending on their history of previous searches, Google crafted results for logged in users. In 2008, Bruce Clay said that “ranking is dead” because of personalized search. It would become meaningless to discuss how a website ranked, because its rank would potentially be different for each user and each search

As an Internet marketing strategy, SEO considers how search engines work and what people search for. Optimizing a website may involve editing its content and HTML and associated coding to both increase its relevance to specific keywords and to remove barriers to the indexing activities of search engines. Promoting a site to increase the number of backlinks, or inbound links, is another SEO tactic.

The acronym “SEO” can refer to “search engine optimizers,” a term adopted by an industry of consultants who carry out optimization projects on behalf of clients, and by employees who perform SEO services in-house. Search engine optimizers may offer SEO as a stand-alone service or as a part of a broader marketing campaign. Because effective SEO may require changes to the HTML source code of a site, SEO tactics may be incorporated into web site development and design. The term “search engine friendly” may be used to describe web site designs, menus, content management systems, images, videos, shopping carts, and other elements that have been optimized for the purpose of search engine exposure.

Webmasters and content providers began optimizing sites for search engines in the mid-1990s, as the first search engines were cataloging the early Web. Initially, all webmasters needed to do was submit the address of a page, or URL, to the various engines which would send a “spider” to “crawl” that page, extract links to other pages from it, and return information found on the page to be indexed. The process involves a search engine spider downloading a page and storing it on the search engine’s own server, where a second program, known as an indexer, extracts various information about the page, such as the words it contains and where these are located, as well as any weight for specific words, and all links the page contains, which are then placed into a scheduler for crawling at a later date.

By relying so much on factors such as keyword density which were exclusively within a webmaster’s control, early search engines suffered from abuse and ranking manipulation. To provide better results to their users, search engines had to adapt to ensure their results pages showed the most relevant search results, rather than unrelated pages stuffed with numerous keywords by unscrupulous webmasters. Since the success and popularity of a search engine is determined by its ability to produce the most relevant results to any given search, allowing those results to be false would turn users to find other search sources. Search engines responded by developing more complex ranking algorithms, taking into account additional factors that were more difficult for webmasters to manipulate. Search marketing is ever evolving and will continue to evolve as marketers become more aggressive vying for that number one spot!

What is success? To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty; To find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived; That is to have succeeded.
