  • The Olympic BLOG

I thought it only fit to write a blog on the Olympics which is a pleasant distraction taking our attentions away from the doldrums of our present day to day life and offering us the opportunity to witness what years of hard work for the worlds top athletes produce in the 7 minutes of pure performance. Watching these games I can’t help but think that in many ways we are like Olympic hopefuls with our podiums being a happy family life, a successful business or a great career, I mean the training is more or less the same we focus and train hard to be the best in our respective fields while dealing with the ins and outs of everyday challenges only to face variables like the speed skater Sven Kramer from the Netherlands who was disqualified from winning gold at the Winter Olympics cause of bad advise from his coach. His response “that was an expensive mistake” or the American skier Julia Mancuso whose two split times on her aborted run indicated she would have been near the lead had she finished, felt robbed. She thought race officials should have prevented her from starting or stopped her earlier.

This is just life and the harder we try the more we feel cheated when life happens to us but the great thing about the Olympics is there is always 2014 and you bet that with the right attitude and out look on life these athletes will be back to finish what they started. I was inspired by the Blog of Heather Moyse our bobsled gold medal co winner along with Kallie Humphries, when she said of the Nagano Olympics “I have unfinished business” and wolla 4 years later gold. The beauty of everyday Olympics is that we don’t have to wait four years to win a medal, we can get better tomorrow or the week after the choice is ours. If an Olympic athlete can train for 4 years between greatness in there lives I think we can manage to improve day by day after all winning gold is there for all of us it just depends on what you are training for.

So to all my fellow Olympians go for gold in what ever your personal pursuit of excellence may be.

    Dream Big!

  • An Age Old Fable

I heard this story many years ago as a young lad in my early teens. Although it stuck with me throughout my life it would take many years and experiences for me to understand the full magnitude of the value of this particular fable. As with so many of life fables it is only after years of trial and error does one truly see the brilliance in the simplicity of message.

Many years ago there was an accomplished, successful businessman. This man had a son and so one day while riding one of their many horses on their farm the son took a really bad fall off of the horse. While he was not seriously injured the trainer felt it serious enough to go and alert the boy’s parents to make sure the 15 year old boy was okay.

Once the father arrived and assessed that there was nothing broken and the boy was in reasonable health. Despite his shaken nerves and spirit his father insisted that he get back up on that horse.

Now the father loved his son very much and only wanted the best for the son. Even though the son protested and cried and his mother was horrified that the father would make him remount the horse after such a terrible fall, the father insisted. The boy reluctantly got back on the horse and rode for the entire afternoon.

Today he is an extremely successful lawyer and businessman living in Switzerland with his wife and children.

In life as in business we sometimes take great falls and if we don’t get back up on that horse we may never ride again and that would be shameful. The longer we put off re-mounting our horse the more we let defeat set in. If anything in life is worth doing in the first place, it is worth doing until you succeed at it.

Stay the course since in life as in business: “To err is human to forgive is divine but to give up is failure”.

  • To Blog or Not to Blog?

Blog, Blog, Blog, Blog, Blog and keep Blogging, it is the new catch phrase when it comes to online marketing and social networking. Too Blog means: a Web site that contains an online personal journal with reflections, comments, and often hyperlinks provided by the writer; also: the contents of such a site.

It is similar to when we were six years old and had allot of opinions but no one really cared well finally Google bots care and they care so much that they want to share our ranting and opinions with the entire online world. In fact, the more we blog the more attention that we call to our companies and our causes online, finally some recognition for our take on our world, I say it is about time and that anyone who has something to say should just start Blogging.

A blog is a call to action for the Google Bots to come Cache your site to see what is new with you. Just think of it as Press release putting the latest news concerning your organization for all to see and best of all you can do it yourself. Blogging is like exercise the more you do the better the results, however if you are way to busy to do it yourself then take advantage of our blogging service where one of our experienced “bloggers” will call you twice per month and take the components of that conversation to create a blog.
