  • The significance of time 11:11Blog!!!

    22 January 2015
In case it’s happening to you as well and you’re noticing 11:11’s, 111’s, 11:11. These number sequences are not necessarily only time prompts. They can also be number sequences, like 333, 1111 etc. To your mind, is this a coincidence, or are they too frequent to be random? Perhaps you are puzzled or amused by this phenomenon. The question everyone is asking is “What does 11:11 mean?” and “Is there a reason for this?” And there certainly is.

Repeated sightings of 11:11 have happened to millions of people throughout the world. Many are wondering why this is happening? They wish to know, what does their constant seeing of 11:11 signify? It’s almost like getting a regular “nudge” to look at the clock, a receipt or odometer at precisely the right moment, usually when focused on something else.

11 is a number of course, and 11:11 is a time on a clock. Number Eleven possesses the qualities of intuition, patience, honesty, sensitivity, and spirituality, and is idealistic. Others turn to people who are ‘Eleven’ for teaching and inspiration, and are usually uplifted by the experience. 11:11 or derivatives of these numbers, 111 and 11, are digits that repeat in time thus a metaphor for reality as patterns that repeat in time for us to experience. This can refer to the rise and fall of civilizations, our personal experiences and lessons, loops in time. They are cycles of time that create and recreate following the blueprint.

But always it’s a signal to stop and assess the significance of the moment, or just plain revel in the playful wonder of it all. It may seem to be simply a self-reinforcing phenomenon, and obvious because of the year.

Many associate 11:11 with a wake-up code/alarm as they see it on digit clocks and watches. It can also be seen as a key to unlock the subconscious mind, our genetic encoded memories, that we are spirits having a physical experience, not physical beings embarking on a spiritual experience. For those of us who are not afraid of meta-physics, basically, seeing 11:11 is a trigger point of awareness, an “awakening code”.

You are starting to awaken to your fullest potential of who you really are. There’s a stirring deep inside, as a hint of remembrance of something long forgotten. It’s time now to take a good look around you and see what is real and what is illusory. It is time to pierce the veils of illusion, which have kept us bound to an unreal world. The revealing or revelation most likely will occur in stages that may be uncomfortable and unsettling at first, yet you will yearn to explore deeper and fuller.

11:11 comes twice a day because everyone deserves a second chance–UK

That awkward moment when you’re making a wish on 11:11 and you get interrupted by 11:12–UK

  • Happy 2015 Everyone!!!

    05 January 2015
New Year is the time at which a new calendar year begins and the calendar’s year count is incremented by one. In many cultures, the event is celebrated in some manner. The New Year of the Gregorian calendar, today in worldwide use, falls on 1 January (New Year’s Day), as was the case with both the old Roman calendar and the Julian calendar that succeeded it.

With each passing year comes a set of new challenges, however these challenges are necessary for us to grow both in our personal lives as well as our professional lives. Back in 2001 when Dee my business partner and best friend and I started out on this journey, all we knew was that we wanted more from life. Neither of us knew how we would go about getting that but we did know that we were going to try. Many years later and some mistakes made, we can look back and be proud that we put forth the effort to have the opportunity to work at something we both love to do, it didn’t come easy.

As the world economy grows and evolves there are more challenges ahead than ever before and the exciting part is that both Dee and myself have both learned not to look at difficulties as problems but rather to look at difficulties as challenges to help you grow and get better at life and business. While it is important to know when to adjust your sail it is also equally as important to know when to chart a different course in what you are trying to accomplish. Last year we had the opportunity to adjust our sails and position our organization for tremendous growth in 2015. This would not have been possible if we didn’t take the time and resources to focus on getting great people and giving quality work.

There will always be challenges in business and at times you will comes to cross roads where difficult decisions will have to be made and this is where intelligence comes in, nobody is right 100% of the time but if your decisions are based on the best possible decision that you can make in what seems an impossible situation then that means that you are trying and no one can ever take that away from you. Happy New Year!!! Looking forward to a huge year y’all!!!

  • Welcome to our Holiday Blog!!!

    04 December 2014
Is it just me or does everyone feel like the holiday season started about 5 weeks ago? Even before the Halloween decorations were taken down I heard holiday tunes playing in the stores. I for one love that, this is my favorite time of the year by far and the longer it lasts the happier it makes me feel. It will be interesting to see what the holidays will look like in 5 years from now since we seem to be adapting a more or less consumer based holiday experience as more and more people flock to urban centers.

The Christmas and holiday season is celebrated by many religions and cultures. Usually, this period begins near the start of November and ends with New Year’s Day. The holiday season is, somewhat, a commercial term that applies, in the US, to the period that begins with Thanksgiving and ends with New Year’s Eve. Some Christian countries consider the end of the festive season to be after the feast of Epiphany.

With the barrage of all the holiday advertising you can forget what the holiday season is really about. We should keep in mind what’s truly important at this time of year and if your holiday expense list is running longer than your monthly budget, scale back and remind yourself that what makes a great celebration is sharing time with loved ones and making memories not store-bought presents, elaborate decorations or gourmet food.

Unfortunately many charitable organizations are also suffering due to the economic downturn. Find a local charity, such as a soup kitchen or a shelter where you and your family can volunteer or participating in a giving tree or an adopt-a-family program, and helping those who are living in true poverty may help you put your own economic struggles in perspective. While we consume it would also be a good time to give as well.

    Happy Holidays

  • Welcome to our Equilibrium Blog!!!!

    28 November 2014

Equilibrium may refer to the condition of a system in which all competing influences are balanced, in a wide variety of contexts. Have you read the news lately? There seems to be more truth (however not proven in a court of law yet) coming out on every subject from Politics to Entertainment. It is crazy, how much information is being sourced and presented to the public and everyone is contributing their part it’s almost like an offline Wikipedia. I got to say some of the stuff coming out is rather disappointing if it’s true. I guess the one good thing about pre-social media is that if we wanted to believe that those folks that hold high status positions in our society also held the highest moral authority and we really would never know otherwise because it would just be kept out of the media through some back door deal.

Today, most people don’t make great efforts to protect secrets, especially those which cause harm to others. In fact, if you are dumb enough to do the crime then chances are you are on your own. What is astounding, however, is the sheer impact of social media on current events. Years ago, there would be an article written on a particular situation in the media it might first come to light in print then it might make the evening news if the situation had enough traction. However, today with the internet these stories are like a forest fire which just keeps on growing and growing and the more you try to fan the flames the bigger the story gets.

What this means in the future is people will do much less bad behavior which brings us back to the title of our blog Equilibrium. More and more organizations are realizing that there really is no such thing as closed door policy anymore. Someone is going to speak out and even if the accusations against you or your company are not true it doesn’t matter. When it comes to the internet where there is smoke there is fire and all the negative publicity can help put you or your company in the spotlight. However, if they find something that they weren’t looking for and it’s not flattering then it will cause damage.

Bottom line is that I really think this new state of public awareness will create a more regulated and fair playing field. I mean we all want to just live full, fun and productive lives to the best of our own personal individual abilities. Most of us probably don’t mind that we might never own a private jet that flies us around the world to our various homes. But what I think would cause us huge discomfort is if the people doing these things are also behaving very badly and hiding behind the two rule, rule (which is or I should say was as times are changing) It is a set of rules for those at the very top of the food chain and another set for everyone else.

“Persons appear to us according to the light we throw upon them from our own minds. -Laura Ingalls Wilder, author (1867-1957)”

  • Welcome to our Home Hunters International blog!!!

    22 November 2014
Welcome to our Home Hunters International blog!!!

Home hunters and their realtors check out all sorts of architectural styles and work through the idiosyncrasies of buying real estate in other countries. In any language, home buying is an emotional experience and but International Home Hunters is more complex, it requires visas, job-hunting, health care and other support systems that need to be in place when you make the move from a country you have called home and are familiar with to a new Country.

According to RBC stats 97% of investment opportunities are available outside of Canada internationally these stats could soon include employment opportunities. Currently there is tremendous economical growth in many developing countries and regions and so it only makes sense that Canadians with good educations should look abroad for lucrative employment opportunities.

Many economist share the same notion and believe that by the year 2025, we will be seeing what looks like a world economy and people will be moving from country to country looking for employment and recreation opportunities just like people move between cities today. This is where education and work experience will be heavily weighted. More and more businesses are looking outside of their countries for companies to work with. In fact lately, myself along with my business partner Dee receive from time to time emails directly from companies in China requesting business opportunities.

One of the shows that I like to watch on the bube tube is “Million Dollar Listing New York”. The LA one is ok as well, however, I find the New York show more colourful. This is a show about three or four under 35 hot shot brokers who sell very expensive real estate in downtown Manhattan and they make it seem like flipping a 30 million dollar home is no more of a big deal that dropping $500 on a pair of Gucci Loafers. However you will have to watch for yourself to realize that just money won’t make you happy as these young hot shots make plenty of it however in next week’s upcoming show it will show a couple of the guys breaking down on national television about how difficult their lives are.

But I digress, I just wanted to give you a tiny morsel of why I watch the show, but the real reason I referenced the show is because on last week’s episode there was an apartment for sale at around 1.8 million and in this one agency. the broker owner had his people on the phone cold calling high networth individuals to sell these properties with a couple of chinese speaking agents sitting right in the office to translate if needed. And in that moment, I saw the future of business globally and for our company as well. The borders are coming down and this is an exciting time for everyone. Let the whole world be you market.

  • Today The Opposite Is True!

    10 November 2014

It is pretty clear that the world is changing fairly quickly before our eyes. Reading, watching and listening to the news, it is also fairly clear that information is being presented to us with a sort of here you go please don’t kill the messenger approach. We don’t create the news, we just report it, from the news reporting agency. While it is fairly obvious that every organization be it private or government has it’s secrets what we have been witnessing is the coming clean of organizations over the past few weeks. In the olden days 2012 organizations would generally deal with internal issues internally but today the opposite is true.

The court of public opinion is now in session and roaring ahead. Just last week there was a news story where the Liberal elect leader Justin Trudeau (Or Rock Star as I like to call him) someone reported directly to him about misconduct of two cabinet members, right away he took action and suspended the members pending an full investigation. In 2009, these types of allegations would be handled in back room deals behind closed doors. Today it would seem that no one wants to be left holding the bag because if you knew about the culpable situation and did or said nothing about it then in the court of public opinion you might as well have been the one pulling the trigger.

What does this all have to do with the internet and social media? Well everything, for example in today’s day to day activities many of us get our information from social media and the internet and with so many stresses and challenges living in a digitally changing world where what’s happening in Africa is just as important to our existence as what’s happening in Washington DC, we need our news fast and we need it accurate. Bottom line if you mess up well, you better come clean and quickly and you should apologize and mean it because we can tell.

However if you chose to hide the facts and embellish the truth then prepare to deal with the wrath of public opinion and a fire storm arising from social media channels. Never before have the masses had such a strong say in the direction of public trust and it seems to be coming a place for truth and openess. Years ago if you were a whistle blower you were vilified and probably black balled from that particular industry but today it would seem that the first to air the truth is the last man or woman standing. Over the next 10 years in this evolving global economy, Canada will most likely be exporting our Canadian culture and way of doing things like in Corporate structure, Banking and government thus transparency will play a big part in being Canadian.

“Never be afraid to raise your voice for honesty and truth and compassion against injustice and lying and greed. If people all over the world…would do this, it would change the earth.”
    ― William Faulkner

“Living with integrity means: Not settling for less than what you know you deserve in your relationships. Asking for what you want and need from others. Speaking your truth, even though it might create conflict or tension. Behaving in ways that are in harmony with your personal values. Making choices based on what you believe, and not what others believe.”

  • This is what I noticed this weekend!!!

    03 November 2014

On my way to the gym this weekend I noticed a number of retail stores closing two months before the holidays. Traditionally retail stores would usually ride it out for the Holiday season and then close in January when things slow down but it would seem that many of these independent businesses are trying to take advantage of the Holiday shopping season with people trying to take advantage of going out of business sales to grab some great deals.

One has to ask if this could have anything to do with the impact that online shopping is having on the retail market in North America, one of the stores closing it’s doors was right at the corner of Yonge and Bloor and occupied that location for about the past 115 years, this is quite a long time for any company to be in business. A couple of the other business closings have been around for relatively long periods of time as well. It is clear that the world is changing right before our eyes but the question is are we ready for this much change?

I was speaking with a long time friend of mine who was in the high end printing business and let’s just say when your profit margins all but disappear it’s a pretty safe to bet that that industry has changed forever. The internet has made it so that you can get more or less what ever you want, need or desire simply by the click of a mouse. It’s like having room service without the crazy prices. With companies like Alibaba and Amazon delivering what you want, when you want it and usually at deep discounts compared to what you would pay at a retail store this trend is probably going to continue and because of shrinking profit margins most likely programming and manufacturing jobs are going to continue moving to developing countries like India, china and Bangladesh.

What does this mean for the next 20 years going forward? It’s that prices will most likely come down across the board for many non essential goods and services based on an over supply of goods that we will purchase because the deal is too good to pass up but we don’t need it and will end up paying double or triple for it as in sits in a storage locker collecting dust so that we can make space for more consumables we can’t live without.

“The world as we have created it is a process of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking.”
    ― Albert Einstein

“When we least expect it, life sets us a challenge to test our courage and willingness to change; at such a moment, there is no point in pretending that nothing has happened or in saying that we are not yet ready. The challenge will not wait. Life does not look back. A week is more than enough time for us to decide whether or not to accept our destiny.”

  • To be Big or to be Great – this is the question!!!

    22 October 2014

Behemoth suggested identities range from a mythological creature to an elephant, hippopotamus, rhinoceros or crocodile. Some creationists believe it to be a description of a sauropod due to its tail being described as like a cedar tree. Metaphorically, the name has come to be used for any extremely large or powerful entity. In today’s economic climate it is becoming increasingly difficult for large organizations to stay ahead of the pact. Years ago bigger meant better and there were also smug sayings like “we are too big to fail” we certainly saw what happened since 2008 which tells us that there is no such thing as being too big to fail.

Smaller leaner companies can change direction on a dime and this is very important if they are going to stay in business in today’s competitive market place. Technology has removed many of the barriers to entry into non capital essential industries. Anyone with a good idea, a laptop computer, strong determination and a bit of luck can chart a course to business success. Warren Buffet is having a bad week both IBM and Coca Cola reported poor earnings and in a flash there goes 2 billion dollars. While Mc Donald’s is quickly losing market share and this could be for a number of reasons.

The bottom line is huge organizations need to become more entrepreneurial if they are to maintain their places in the sun, smaller leaner companies have less bureaucracy and red tape to contend with and are able to seize opportunities with less infighting and corporate politics. Thirty years ago it is pretty safe to say that every single department was essential to an organization’s operation however today with advancements in technology as well as automation and outsourcing many large companies are changing the way they operate from the inside out. Basically there is no more status quo it’s ever company for itself and since money follows new trends there is no loyalty to the old guard.

There is no doubt that the internet changed the way we see the world and live in it. More and more people are living in urban areas around the world and getting their culture from restaurants, schools, markets, movies and other cultural events. Thus we are quickly all becoming city slickers in love with our smart phones our new appendage and all looking for our little piece of the proverbial pie.

Technology and innovation will get us there but top heavy management and bureaucracy will stall the organization. In today’s economic climate, companies cannot be afraid to fail because inaction in today’s market place is much the same as going backwards. There is always some college dropout sitting in their family’s garage on a laptop computer designing a faster, better and cheaper way of doing what your multi billion dollar company is doing and he can crowd source funding and become your biggest competitor in a matter of months.

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
    – Mark Twain

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”
    – Steve Jobs

  • Its almost Halloween!!!

    17 October 2014
Typical festive Halloween activities include trick-or-treating (or the related “guising”), attending costume parties, decorating, carving pumpkins into jack-o’-lanterns, lighting bonfires, apple bobbing, visiting haunted house attractions, playing pranks, telling scary stories, and watching horror films.

Within allhallowtide, the traditional focus of All Hallows’ Eve revolves around the theme of using “humor and ridicule to confront the power of death.” Growing up I remember that it was customary to get dressed at home and go into school in full costume and the funny part about that is it seemed that kids were more themselves dressing up in costume than how they would be on just any old school day.

The word Halloween or Hallowe’en dates to about 1745 and is of Christian origin. The word “Halloween” means “hallowed evening” or “holy evening”. Today’s Halloween customs are also thought to have been influenced by Christian dogma and practices derived from it. In medieval Europe, “fires were lit to guide these souls on their way and deflect them from haunting honest Christian folk, a practice that some Christians continue in Halloween celebrations today with jack-o-lanterns. Folklorist Kingsley Palmer, in addition to others, has suggested that the carved jack-o’-lantern, a popular symbol of Halloween, originally represented the souls of the dead.

In addition, “it was customary for criers dressed in black to parade the streets, ringing a bell of mournful sound and calling on all good Christians to remember the poor souls.

    Happy Halloween Y’all!!!

  • Turkey Time!!!

    09 October 2014
Thanksgiving is a statutory holiday in most jurisdictions of Canada, with the exceptions being the Atlantic provinces of Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia, where it is an optional holiday. Thanksgiving, or Thanksgiving Day (Canadian French: Jour de l’Action de grâce), occurring on the second Monday in October, is an annual Canadian holiday which celebrates the harvest and other blessings of the past year. In speaking to many people I often here them say that Thanksgiving is their favorite holiday of the year even more than Christmas and I guess I can see this as people gather for a big meal with little drama.

I for one really enjoy the holiday and the older I get the more I enjoy these traditional holidays. It seems that no matter what is going on around us and in the news (definitely a lot going on right now) these holidays give us an opportunity to reflect on the past and to feel whole once more. It is truly a time for people to be grateful for what we have whether it is a lot or just a little. Life moves fairly quickly today and there is not much time to reflect on what just happened and so I think it is really nice to have a holiday which you can say pressures us to be thankful for what we have and not always running towards what we don’t have yet.

If there is one thing that I’ve learned over the past year is that most people are coming to terms with what makes them happy as opposed to what gives them more. I think we are coming to this place in life where most people feel that what they do for a living and the way they live their lives should give them some sort of satisfaction. Don’t get me wrong these are not people saying that they will take less pay or drive second rate cars it’s just many people saying that they are unwilling to make themselves miserable to attain these things.

I am grateful for where I am in life and while it was not easy for my business partner and myself to get to this point I can honestly say that all the blood, sweat and tears it took to just try to carve out a life just a little bit better was worth it. So I would say that while life will always be a challenge and there will always be problems to face, we should just make sure that we pick the challenges that will keep us on the path to our own personal fulfillment. “Choose your battles”

    Happy Thanksgiving
