The Hot Wheels Ford Mustang GTD RC Car: Should I Open It or Keep It Sealed?

Every Hot Wheels collector knows the feeling of finding something special. But the Hot Wheels Ford Mustang GTD RC car has me facing a serious collector’s dilemma. I was fortunate enough to come across one recently, and my first reaction? I was beyond happy! But now that I have it in my collection, there’s just one problem. I really, really want to open it!

Meet My Latest Mustang GTD Discovery

Let’s start with the car itself.

The first thing that caught my eye was its matte grey finish. Add the black wheel spokes, completely blacked-out windows, and those sleek Mustang GTD lines, and you’ve got a car that looks seriously good.

And this isn’t your typical Hot Wheels casting.

The car is about twice the size of a regular Hot Wheels car, which gives it a much bigger presence. It also comes with a black remote control featuring grey and blue buttons.

Now, I have to admit, there’s something exciting about a car that promises more than just looking good on a shelf.

This Mustang is meant to move!

And that’s where my problem begins.

We’re Not Just Hot Wheels Collectors

Huey and I, along with DeeMoney as part of our collecting adventures, have built up quite a collection over the years.

While Hot Wheels cars are a big part of what we collect, we don’t limit ourselves to one brand or type of toy car. We have plenty of other die-cast vehicles, toy cars, and remote control cars in our collection.

In fact, our collection has grown into something pretty impressive.

Here’s another detail that might surprise you. Around 99% of our collection is still in its original packaging!

    Yes, we’re those collectors.

We love finding new additions, admiring the details, and keeping our cars in the condition they came in. There’s something satisfying about seeing a collection grow while knowing each piece has been carefully preserved.

But every now and then, a car comes along that makes you question your collecting habits.

And this Mustang GTD is doing exactly that.

The Great Collector Debate: To Open or Not to Open?

If you’re a collector, you probably understand the struggle.

You find a car you’ve been looking for. You bring it home. You admire it from every angle. Maybe you even find the perfect spot for it in your collection.

    Then the temptation hits.

What would it be like if I actually opened it?

With most of our sealed cars, the answer is pretty simple. Once you open the packaging, you can take the car out, admire the casting, appreciate the details, and display it somewhere.

And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that!

But once it’s out of the package, the experience changes. You can’t put it back into its original sealed condition.

For someone who enjoys keeping almost everything packaged, that’s a big decision.

The Mustang GTD RC car is different, though.

This isn’t just another car to admire. It’s a remote control car that promises excitement, adventure, and hours of fun.

Imagine taking it out of the box, picking up the remote, and seeing what it can actually do.

How fast will it go? How will it handle? Will it be as much fun to drive as it is to look at?

There’s only one way to find out.

And that’s exactly why I’m having such a hard time leaving it alone!

My Plan? Keep It as My Emergency Fun Car!

For now, I’m going to exercise a little self-control.

The Mustang GTD is staying in its original packaging. At least for the time being.

I’m calling it my break-the-case-in-case-of-an-emergency car.

You know, for those days when the urge to open something in the collection becomes too much to handle!

Of course, I’m joking. Sort of.

There may come a day when curiosity finally wins. Maybe I’ll decide that enjoying the car is more important than keeping it sealed. After all, these cars are made to be enjoyed, and there’s a lot to be said for actually playing with something you’ve collected.

For now, though, I’ll keep admiring that matte grey finish, those black wheels, and the sleek Mustang styling through the packaging.

And I’ll keep imagining what happens when I finally pick up that remote.

One thing’s for sure. When that day comes, I think I’ll have a lot of fun!

What’s Your Take, Hot Wheels Collectors?

This is one of those collecting debates that never really goes away.

Some collectors believe everything should stay in its original packaging. Others believe that if you buy a car, you should open it, enjoy it, and let it do what it was designed to do.

And then there are collectors like me, who sometimes find a car that makes them question everything!

So, here’s my question for you: Would you open the Hot Wheels Ford Mustang GTD RC car, or would you keep it sealed?

I’d love to hear what you think.

Share your thoughts in the comments, and tell us about a car in your own collection that was almost too tempting to leave in its packaging.

Because sometimes, the hardest part of collecting isn’t finding the car.

It’s deciding what to do with it once you get it home!
