Fall Is Here: The Halloween Hot Wheels Have Arrived

There are certain little signs that tell you Halloween Hot Wheels season has arrived. The temperature starts to drop. The leaves quietly begin changing colour. And for us collectors, there is one more sure sign: the Halloween Hot Wheels start showing up on store pegs.

Just this past weekend, right around the beginning of September, all those signs came together.

    Fall is here.

And that means one of my favourite times of the year has officially begun.

It Starts With a Change in the Air

There is something about early September that feels different.

The summer heat starts to fade. The mornings feel a little cooler. You can look around and notice the first hints of colour starting to appear in the trees.

    It happens quietly.

Then, before you know it, fall has arrived.

For DeeMoney and me, fall also means something else.

    Halloween Hot Wheels.

Every year, we start keeping an eye on the pegs around this time. We know that somewhere out there, the Halloween cars are getting ready to make their appearance.

And this year was no different.

    DeeMoney Heads to Port Elgin

Just as fall was starting to make its appearance, DeeMoney headed up to Port Elgin to visit her family.

That meant we were both keeping an eye out for the Halloween Hot Wheels.

Because if you are a Hot Wheels collector, you know how this works.

You don’t necessarily go looking for something specific.

You just happen to be in a store.

You walk past the toy aisle.

    You glance at the pegs.

    And then suddenly…

    There they are.

    A Saturday Morning Surprise

On my way to the office last Saturday, I decided to do what I always do.

I stopped in to check the pegs.

You never really know what you are going to find.

Maybe there will be nothing new.

Maybe there will be a few interesting cars.

Or maybe, just maybe, you will walk in at exactly the right time.

That Saturday was one of those days.

I walked in and there they were.

    Front and centre.

Four sets of five Halloween Hot Wheels were just sitting there on the pegs.

    Four sets.

    Five cars in each.

And I didn’t need much time to make a decision.

Two Sets Came Home With Me

    I quickly grabbed two sets.

    One for DeeMoney.

    And one for me.

That’s one of the things I love about collecting Hot Wheels with DeeMoney. When something special comes along, it isn’t just about adding another car to the collection.

It becomes part of the experience.

We have been collecting together for years now, and finding new releases is always exciting.

Sometimes it is a Treasure Hunt.

Sometimes it is a favourite car.

Sometimes it is a casting we have been waiting to see.

And sometimes it is a complete Halloween set sitting right there in front of you.

You have to grab it when you see it.

And Just Like That… Fall Has Begun

There was something about walking into the store and seeing those Halloween Hot Wheels that made it official.

    Summer is winding down.

The leaves are starting to change.

    The air is getting cooler.

DeeMoney is visiting family in Port Elgin.

And the Halloween Hot Wheels have hit the pegs.

For me, that is when fall really begins.

It isn’t just the calendar telling me that the season has changed.

    It is those little moments.

    The first cool morning.

    The first colourful leaves.

    The first Halloween decorations.

And, of course, the first Halloween Hot Wheels of the season.

Why These Little Finds Are So Much Fun

One of the best things about collecting Hot Wheels is that you never quite know what a quick stop at the store might turn into.

You can walk in expecting nothing.

Then you spot something you weren’t expecting.

That little bit of excitement never really goes away.

It is part of what makes collecting fun.

And when you collect with someone else, it makes those discoveries even better.

For DeeMoney and me, these cars are more than just little die-cast vehicles.

    They are memories.

They are the fun of finding something together.

They are the stories we tell later.

And sometimes, they are the perfect reminder that you don’t have to do anything complicated to have a great day.

Sometimes you just need to stop and check the pegs.

    Bring On Halloween

Now that the Halloween Hot Wheels have arrived, I think it is safe to say that we are officially heading into my favourite time of year.

There will be more store stops.

    More peg hunting.

    More surprises.

    More Hot Wheels.

And probably a few more cars that somehow find their way home with us.

    That’s part of the fun.

So if you are a Hot Wheels collector, keep your eyes open.

You never know when that next great find is going to be sitting right there on the pegs.

And if you happen to see those Halloween Hot Wheels?

    Well…

    You better grab them.

Ready to Start Your Own Fall Hot Wheels Hunt?

Fall is here, and the Halloween Hot Wheels are already making their way onto store pegs.

Whether you are a longtime collector, just getting started, or hunting for Hot Wheels with your kids or family, now is a great time to start checking those pegs.

Keep hunting. Keep collecting. And most of all, have fun with it.

Because sometimes the best Hot Wheels memories start with a simple Saturday stop at the store.

    Happy hunting!

  • Tip #4 of Hot Wheels Collecting: Be Proud of Your Hobby

Tip #4 of Hot Wheels Collecting: Be Proud of Your Hobby

Hot Wheels collecting is about more than buying tiny die-cast cars. It’s about passion, nostalgia, and appreciating the incredible designs that have captured the hearts of collectors for generations. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned over the years is simple: be proud of your hobby.

When my business partner and I first started collecting, things were very different.

We would head to the checkout with a handful of Hot Wheels. Almost every time, the cashier or someone standing in line would smile and ask:

“Oh, are those for your kids?”

    I’d smile back and say,

“Nope. They’re for me. I collect Hot Wheels.”

That answer usually led to another question.

    “So…do you play with them?”

    Again, my answer was simple.

“No. I collect them because I love the artwork, the designs, and the memories they bring back.”

At the time, some people looked surprised. Others laughed. Collecting toy cars as an adult wasn’t something many people understood.

    Times Have Changed

Fast forward to today, and the conversation has completely changed.

Now, when someone sees Hot Wheels in my shopping cart, they don’t ask if they’re for my kids.

    Instead, they ask:

    “You collect?”

Sometimes that question turns into a great conversation. I’ve met collectors in checkout lines, parking lots, flea markets, toy shows, and even while hunting the pegs at local stores.

What was once seen as a childhood toy is now recognized as a serious hobby enjoyed by people of all ages.

    Collect What Makes You Happy

One of the best parts of Hot Wheels collecting is that there are no rules.

Some collectors chase Super Treasure Hunts.

Others love Red Editions, Premiums, or vintage releases.

Some keep every car sealed in the package. Others open every one because they enjoy displaying them.

None of those approaches are right or wrong.

The best collection is the one that makes you happy.

    Confidence Comes With Time

Like many hobbies, confidence grows as you learn more.

The longer you collect, the more you realize you’re part of a worldwide community filled with people who share the same excitement every time a new case hits the shelves.

Today, collecting Hot Wheels is more accepted than ever before.

    It’s no longer unusual.

It’s a hobby that brings people together, creates friendships, and keeps childhood memories alive.

    Final Thoughts

If you’re new to Hot Wheels collecting, don’t be afraid to tell people you collect.

    Own it.

    Share your passion.

You never know when the person standing beside you is another collector waiting to start a conversation.

We’ve come a long way over the years, and it’s been amazing to watch attitudes change.

That’s one of the things that makes this hobby so special.

    What’s Your Story?

Have you ever had someone ask if the Hot Wheels in your cart were for your kids?

  • The VW ID Buzz Bomb Is Back — And I Almost Made a Huge Hot Wheels Mistake

The VW ID Buzz Bomb Is Back — And I Almost Made a Huge Hot Wheels Mistake

If you collect VW ID Buzz Bomb Hot Wheels models, you already know how fast excitement can hit when a rare-looking release suddenly shows up on the pegs. Well, the moment finally happened. The Volkswagen VW ID Buzz Bomb surf van is officially back, and I almost completely missed how important this release really is.

At first glance, I thought it was just another cool-looking van. I grabbed one and kept moving. Big mistake.

That’s when my business partner Dee stopped me and said, “You do realize this casting is based on the original surf van that’s valued at over $100,000?”

    Suddenly, everything changed.

A Modern Tribute to a Legendary Hot Wheels Van

The new Volkswagen VW ID Buzz Bomb carries serious nostalgia. It blends the future of electric vehicles with one of the most iconic surf van designs Hot Wheels collectors have ever seen.

    That combination matters.

Collectors love models that connect generations. The original surf van became legendary because it captured a full lifestyle. Freedom. Surf culture. California vibes. Custom van culture. It was never just a toy car.

    It became history.

Now Hot Wheels has brought that energy back with a modern EV twist. The VW ID Buzz Bomb feels futuristic while still paying respect to the original design collectors fell in love with decades ago.

That is exactly the kind of formula that creates long-term collector demand.

Why This Release Could Become a Big Deal

The Hot Wheels market has changed a lot over the last few years. Collectors are paying much closer attention to limited releases, nostalgic castings, and anything connected to automotive history.

The Volkswagen brand already has one of the strongest fan bases in die-cast collecting.

    Add in:

    * Retro surf van styling
    * Electric vehicle hype
    * Nostalgia-driven collecting
    * Limited peg availability
    * Strong collector buzz

…and suddenly this release starts looking very interesting.

The funny part is I almost walked right past it.

Sometimes the biggest collectibles are hiding in plain sight.

    The Emotional Side of Collecting

This is what makes collecting fun. Every once in a while, a model shows up that reminds you why you started collecting in the first place.

It is not always about money.

It is about the excitement of discovery. The stories behind the castings. The hunt. The nostalgia. The conversations with other collectors who know the history behind what you are holding.

That quick conversation with Dee completely changed the way I looked at this release.

And honestly, the next time I see the VW ID Buzz Bomb sitting on the pegs, I will definitely be picking up a few more for the collection.

Why Hot Wheels Collecting Keeps Growing

We are living in a time where collectibles are becoming more appreciated than ever before. People want hobbies that feel real and personal again.

    Hot Wheels checks every box.

They are affordable. Fun to hunt for. Easy to display. Connected to automotive culture. And sometimes, certain castings quietly turn into major collectibles years later.

No one knows exactly what the future value of the VW ID Buzz Bomb will be.

But history has shown us that iconic Volkswagen castings have a habit of getting collectors very excited over time.

The return of the Volkswagen VW ID Buzz Bomb is a reminder that paying attention matters in the collecting world. One small purchase can suddenly connect you to decades of Hot Wheels history.

And sometimes the models we almost ignore end up becoming the ones we wish we bought more of.

That is part of the magic of collecting.

  • Is the Hot Wheels Collector Market Growing? Here’s What I’ve Been Seeing

Is the Hot Wheels Collector Market Growing? Here’s What I’ve Been Seeing

Is it me or has the hot wheels collector market grown over the past few years.

It used to be simple. You’d stop by your favourite big box store on the way to work. You’d check the pegs. Maybe grab a couple of new Hot Wheels. Maybe leave a few behind because you weren’t totally sure.

And the best part? You could always come back later in the day. Chances are, they’d still be there waiting for you.

    That doesn’t really happen anymore.

Now, if you see it and you want it, you buy it. Right there. Right then. Because if you walk away, there’s a good chance it’s gone.

And honestly, that shift says a lot about what’s happening in the Hot Wheels world.

    Something Has Definitely Changed

Over the past few years, collecting Hot Wheels has felt… different.

There’s more energy in the hobby. More people are actively hunting. More shelves are getting cleared faster than ever.

It’s not just casual collectors anymore. It feels like a mix of:

    * Long-time collectors
    * New hobby investors
    * Resellers
    * And people rediscovering childhood nostalgia

Put all that together, and you get one thing: competition.

The “Peg Warmers” Don’t Sit Around Anymore

There was a time when certain cars would just sit there for weeks.

You’d walk by them again and again.

    Not anymore.

Now even the less popular cars move faster. And the “good stuff” barely hits the shelf before it’s gone.

That’s changed how people collect. It’s made the hunt more intense. And honestly, a bit more unpredictable.

    Why This Might Be Happening

A few things seem to be driving this shift:

    1. More awareness

Social media has made collecting way more visible. People know what to look for now.

    2. YouTube and TikTok influence

Collectors are sharing finds in real time. That creates urgency. Everyone wants to get there first.

    3. Resale market growth

Some cars aren’t just toys anymore. They’re seen as small assets. That changes behaviour fast.

    4. Nostalgia is powerful

Adults who grew up with Hot Wheels are back in the game. And they’re not just buying one or two.

    The New Reality of Collecting

The truth is, collecting today isn’t casual for a lot of people anymore.

It’s become more intentional. More competitive. More “if you see it, grab it.”

That old relaxed browsing experience? It still exists… just not as often.

And depending on how you look at it, that’s either exciting or a little frustrating.

So What Does This Mean for Collectors?

    It means you adapt.

You learn timing. You learn stores. You learn restock days.

And sometimes, you just get lucky.

But most importantly, it brings back that “hunt” feeling. The thrill of finding something rare when you least expect it.

So, is the Hot Wheels collector market growing?

From what many collectors are experiencing on the ground… it sure feels like it.

More people. Faster turnover. Higher competition. Less patience in the aisles.

The hobby hasn’t disappeared. It’s just evolved.

And in a strange way, that might make the wins feel even better.

If you’re seeing the same shift in your area, I’d love to hear about it.

Are you finding it harder to grab cars off the pegs?

Or have you adjusted your collecting strategy?

Drop your thoughts, share your experiences, and let’s compare what’s happening in different places.

  • Scuderia Biscione: When Real Cars Beg to Become 1:64 Legends

Scuderia Biscione: When Real Cars Beg to Become 1:64 Legends

There’s a moment every collector knows.

You’re scrolling. Maybe it’s late. Maybe you’re just killing time on Facebook. Then boom — a car stops you in your tracks.

And your first thought is simple:
“That needs to be a Hot Wheels.”

That’s exactly what happened to me when I came across Scuderia Biscione — a design-driven extension of Alfa Romeo that takes already beautiful cars and pushes them into something even more aggressive, rare, and collectible.

Let me show you what I mean.

The Kind of Cars That Instantly Feel Collectible

These aren’t just cars. They look like they were designed with collectors in mind.

Sharp lines. Bold colors. Unique liveries. The kind of details that pop even at a tiny 1:64 scale.

    And that’s the key.

Great die-cast models don’t just copy cars — they capture character.
Scuderia Biscione cars already have that built in.

Why These Would Make Incredible Hot Wheels

Let’s be honest — not every real car translates well into a small model.

    But these? Different story.

    Here’s why they stand out:

    1. Strong Visual Identity
The styling isn’t subtle. It’s loud in the best way. That’s exactly what works in die-cast form.

    2. Built-In Rarity Feel
Even if you’ve never seen one in real life, they feel exclusive. That’s half the magic of collecting.

    3. Perfect Scale Presence
Details like aggressive grills, custom rims, and bold paint jobs hold up beautifully at 1:64.

    4. Instant Shelf Appeal
You know those cars you keep picking up and looking at again? These would be those.

The Collector Mindset: You See It Before It Exists

    Here’s something interesting.

Collectors don’t just collect what’s available.
    They imagine what should exist.

That’s what makes this hobby fun.

Brands like Hot Wheels have built entire lines based on unique designs, concept cars, and bold styling choices.

So when you come across something like Scuderia Biscione, it sparks that same idea:

“Why hasn’t this been made yet?”

And honestly, sometimes those are the best pieces to chase — even before they exist.

This Is Bigger Than Just One Car

This isn’t just about one design.

    It’s about training your eye.

Once you start noticing cars like this, everything changes:

    * You spot future collectibles everywhere
    * You develop your own taste and style
    * You build a collection that actually means something to you

And that’s where collecting shifts from a hobby… to something personal.

The next great addition to your collection might not be sitting on a store shelf.

It might be something you saw online.
    Something that made you pause.
Something that made you think, that’s different.

Scuderia Biscione is one of those things.

And if companies like Hot Wheels are paying attention, they should be next.

    Your Turn

If you’re serious about building a collection you’re proud of, start doing this:

Pay attention to the cars that stop you mid-scroll
Save them. Screenshot them. Study them
Build your collection around *what excites you*, not just what’s available

    And here’s the big one:

Don’t just collect what exists — start thinking like a creator.

    Because the best collections?
    They start with a vision.

  • The $2 Hot Wheels That Turned Into a $150 Surprise (If You Know, You Know)

The $2 Hot Wheels That Turned Into a $150 Surprise (If You Know, You Know)

There’s a moment every Hot Wheels collector lives for.

It’s not when you’re scrolling online.

It’s not when you’re watching auctions.

It’s when you’re standing right in front of the peg.

You’re flipping through cars… one by one… and then you see it.

    That small rush hits you.

    And you just know.

    If you know, you know.

    The Thrill of the Hunt

Hot Wheels collecting isn’t really about the money.

    At least not at first.

    It’s about the hunt.

Walking into your favourite store. Checking the same aisles you’ve checked a hundred times before. Hoping today might be different.

Most of the time, it’s not.

    But then sometimes… it is.

    That’s what makes it addictive.

The $2 Decision That Changes Everything

Recently, my business partner had one of those moments.

Right there on the peg was a Hot Wheels car that just stood out.

    Nothing fancy in the moment.

Just something that felt worth grabbing.

So she did what any collector would do.

    She bought it.

Two dollars. No hesitation. No second guessing.

    Just instinct.

And honestly, that’s how most great finds start.

The Real Surprise Happens at Home

    Here’s where things get interesting.

Later that day, she does what every collector secretly loves doing.

    She checks eBay.

    Just to see.

    And that’s when it hits.

    That $2 Hot Wheels?

It’s reselling for around $150 USD.

Let that sink in for a second.

Same car. Same piece of metal and plastic.

But completely different value depending on timing, demand, and awareness.

    That’s the game.

    Why These Moments Matter

These finds aren’t just about flipping value.

They remind you of something bigger.

    You can’t predict everything.

You can’t Google every opportunity before it happens.

Sometimes, you just have to trust your eye.

And act fast when something feels right.

Because in the world of collecting, hesitation is often what costs you the win.

The Truth About Hot Wheels Hunting

Most trips won’t lead to anything special.

    That’s just reality.

You’ll walk out with nothing new more times than not.

But that’s what makes the wins so powerful.

Because every now and then, the peg gives you something rare.

    Something overlooked.

    Something everyone else missed.

And in that moment, it’s just you… and your instinct.

    Final Thoughts

Hot Wheels collecting isn’t luck alone.

    It’s consistency.

    It’s showing up.

It’s knowing your space well enough to recognize value before the internet tells you what it is.

And sometimes, it’s walking out of a store with a $2 car… that turns out to be a $150 surprise.

    If you know, you know.

Got your own Hot Wheels hunting win?

Or maybe you’ve had that moment where you *almost* left something behind?

Share your story and keep the hunt going.

And if you’re serious about building your collection, don’t just look at the pegs.

Train your eye. Trust your instinct. And stay consistent — because the next hidden gem might already be waiting for you.

  • Don’t Sleep on the Ones You Love: Every Hot Wheels Has a Story

Don’t Sleep on the Ones You Love: Every Hot Wheels Has a Story

    Let’s be honest.

Most people walk into a store hunting for one thing.
    Treasure hunts.
    Super treasure hunts.
    Exotics.

And hey — nothing wrong with that.

Finding a rare piece feels like striking gold.

But here’s the truth most collectors learn a little later…

There’s a lot of gold sitting right on the pegs.

The Trap Most Collectors Fall Into

When you first start collecting Hot Wheels, it’s easy to get caught up in hype.

    You start chasing:

    * What’s rare
    * What’s expensive
    * What everyone else wants

And before you know it, you’re not collecting what you love…

You’re collecting what you think you should love.

    That’s where things go sideways.

    What Collecting Is Really About

Here’s what we’ve learned since getting deeper into this world:

Every single Hot Wheels car has a fan.

    Not some.
    Not a few.

    Every one.

    I’ve seen it firsthand.

    My business partner’s brother?
He only collects muscle cars. That’s his lane. That’s his passion.

    No interest in exotics.
    No interest in treasure hunts.

    Just raw, classic muscle.

    Then there’s Dianna.

    She’s drawn to personality.
    Cars like:

    * Quick Chat
    * Lucky Cat
    * The fun, creative, slightly different ones

    And those pieces?
They hit just as hard — sometimes harder — than a rare exotic.

Every Car Is a 1:64 Work of Art

It’s easy to overlook the basics when you’re chasing the big hits.

But slow down for a second.

    Look at the details:

    * The paint
    * The wheels
    * The design
    * The creativity

Each car is a 1:64 scale piece of art.

    Someone designed it.
    Someone approved it.
Someone out there is searching for it right now.

That “common” car you passed on?

It might be someone else’s grail.

    The Smarter Way to Collect

If you want to enjoy this hobby long term, here’s the shift:

Stop chasing everything. Start choosing intentionally.

    Ask yourself:

    * What actually catches my eye?
    * What makes me stop and look twice?
    * What would I regret leaving behind?

    Because here’s the thing…

    The collectors who last?
They’re not the ones chasing hype.

They’re the ones building something personal.

    Why This Mindset Changes Everything

When you collect what you love:

    * You enjoy every hunt more
    * You appreciate your collection more
    * You stop feeling like you’re missing out

And your collection becomes something real.

    Not just valuable.

    Meaningful.

    Treasure hunts are great.
    Exotics are exciting.

But don’t sleep on the rest.

Because in the world of Hot Wheels…

There’s no such thing as “just a basic car.”

    There’s only:

    * Someone who loves it
    * And someone who hasn’t discovered it yet

Build a Collection That Actually Means Something

Next time you’re standing in front of the pegs, don’t rush.

    Take an extra minute.

    Look a little closer.

Grab the one that speaks to you — not the one everyone else is chasing.

And if you’re building your collection right now, start this simple habit:

    – Pick one theme that feels like *you*
    – Add one car to it every week
    – Watch how fast it turns into something you’re proud of

    Because the best collections?

    They aren’t built on hype.

    They’re built on connection.

  • The Thrill of the Aftermarket: Collecting and Reselling 1:64 Diecast Models

The Thrill of the Aftermarket: Collecting and Reselling 1:64 Diecast Models

If you’ve ever picked up a Hot Wheels, Matchbox, or other 1:64 scale diecast model, you know it’s more than just a toy—it’s a piece of potential treasure. The world of collecting and reselling these tiny cars has grown into a fascinating aftermarket, where some models can be worth hundreds, even thousands of dollars. But what makes a diecast model valuable? How long should you hold onto it? And what’s the smartest way to sell? Let’s break it down.

    1. Hold Duration: Patience Pays Off

Unlike fast-moving stocks or trending sneakers, diecast collectibles often appreciate slowly. Most models reach peak value after a few years, but there are exceptions where rarity drives price up quickly.

Here’s a simple rule of thumb: the rarer the model and the better its condition, the longer you can afford to hold it. Mint condition, unopened packaging, and limited editions are your friends here. If you’re lucky, holding onto a model for 5–10 years can turn a $5 car into a $100+ gem.

The catch? The market fluctuates. Some cars spike in popularity thanks to movies, anniversaries, or nostalgia trends. Staying informed is key—follow collector forums, auction sites, and social media communities.

    2. What Makes a Diecast Model Valuable

Not all 1:64s are created equal. Some models just scream collector gold. Here’s what buyers look for:

    * Rarity: Limited production runs, exclusive store editions, and factory errors can make a car highly sought-after.
    * Condition: Mint in package (MIP) is king. Even tiny scratches or bent packaging can drop the value significantly.
    * Popularity: Cars tied to famous movies, TV shows, or iconic brands often fetch higher prices. Think “Fast & Furious” editions or retro muscle cars.
    * Authenticity: Some buyers prefer official releases over knock-offs. Serial numbers, packaging, and correct paint jobs matter.
    * Historical Significance: First editions or anniversary models tend to hold value better.

    3. The Best Ways to Sell Individual Models

Once you’ve nurtured your collection, the next challenge is selling it smart. Here’s what works:

    * Online Marketplaces: eBay, Facebook Marketplace, and specialty collector sites are excellent for reaching a wide audience. Make sure your listings include clear photos, detailed descriptions, and condition notes.
    * Auctions: For rare or highly valuable models, auctions can create bidding wars that drive prices up. Check out online auctions or local collector events.
    * Collector Communities: Forums and social media groups often have members looking for specific models. It’s a great way to connect directly with buyers who understand the value.
    * Bundles vs. Individual Sales: Some cars sell better individually, especially rare or highly coveted models. Others might move faster in small bundles. Know your buyer and the market trends.

    Pro Tip: Patience and Presentation

Selling isn’t just about listing a car—it’s about telling a story. Highlight what makes the model unique, why collectors love it, and why it’s worth holding onto. Good photos, proper packaging, and clear communication can make all the difference.

Collecting and reselling 1:64 diecast models is part hobby, part investment, and 100% fun. With patience, research, and a little strategy, even a small collection can turn into something surprisingly valuable.
