A few years ago back in 2008 when we started our operations in the internet marketing business we had, like many other companies experienced a difficult time with the economic fallout from the corporate banking scandals. At that time we had positioned our company in Montreal as there was a growing tech community for startups and larger firms doing business globally and in addition once the market shifted, so did companies attitudes towards the spending of advertising dollars we saw our profit margins decline rapidly and we definitely went through some trying times. It seemed that the market was going towards optimization and that web design was going to be the way of the future and so we decided to re-gig Nexonta Technologies Inc and re launch as a web design and SEO company.

Over the next few years we saw tremendous growth in the SEO market as well as web design, the biggest issue we faced was staffing. As a young company it is imperative that you are able to hire on the right staff as it could be detrimental to your whole organization. We hired the wrong staff and it hurt us badly in the Montreal market so much so that we decided that we had no choice but to relocate the company to Toronto. Since operating from Toronto it has been much better. It was a huge move and expensive relocating our firm from Montreal to Toronto however it was the best move that we could have done for the well being of our company.

What we have learned over the past four years is that there always will be trying times in life as well as in business and all you can do is the best that you can. At times there are various factors that may go against you and your organization and with the right people on your team your will whether the storms however with the wrong team on board you will get thrown under a bus. Having a staff of people with good core values and ethics is imperative for your company’s growth and longevity there were times that we wondered if we should keep going and this is what really makes an organization strong in the end. There is no company that has not gone through it’s share of adversity but as long as the captain does the best that they can while steering the ship and works hard to keep it on a good course then this is the only thing that needs to be done. We have changed our hiring pratices and will only work with those who come highly recomended. It is very difficult to realize this but hiring staff is much like picking a spouse if you pick the right one wedded bliss however if you pick the wrong business partner I can honestly say it is the worst experience one can go through!
