Hello and welcome to our food for thought blog!
Sometimes in life the most difficult decision one can make is to chart a course for ones self and stick to it through thick and thin. Several years ago my business partner and I decided to start an online diet and fitness company called www.dietgroupies.com (Today it is built around Visalus protein shakes and Sun Warrior for the vegans out there). Several years later, I wonder if it was about finally launching the company or the many crazy experiences leading up to the launch. When it comes to SEO (which stands for search engine optimization for those of you who just read our blogs for the laughs we are actually an online marketing company) the most important thing is to start the process.
I have been speaking with a lot of business owners lately (Well everyday!!) and what I am hearing is that the old way of finding clients is not working, gone are the directory days and search engines are the new yellow pages. While I spotted a trend over the past few years with the growth in social media and twitter, linkedin and your facebook fan page I did not see that it would become so critical to companies and individuals with a message. It is quickly getting to the stage where people are only going to be doing business with companies that they like the tweets they put out. While service and quality of goods are equally as important what I have wittled it down to is that the market wants to connect to your message and so for those who put tweets that we can all relate to makes it easier to feel like you can trust that particular brand.
If the medium is the message then certainly we are all going viral. I have learned that the journey is the real gift in life and not the destination as once you reach your destination the question is usually what now. I think it all starts with us looking inside and deciding what it is that would make us complete in who we are really meant to be and having the discipline and conviction to stay the course and become that individual no matter what the cost.
