Breaking Bread.com

Physically tearing a loaf of bread open, or breaking dry bread apart – traditionally a method of separating bread, rather than cutting with a knife. Metaphorically, having a meal together, or starting a meal. For the purposes of this blog we will focus on the latter. Over the years, we have seen many good ideas come and go and while you cannot dance at every wedding there are some ideas that should be shared so that someone else might execute on that idea in order to contribute to the global village.

We have decided to share this idea as we don’t have the time to nurture it to life. The idea is simple, it is an APP which one can access from their smart phone. How we envisioned it working was that whenever someone is going out for a meal, grocery shopping or just going for coffee this app lets you share your meal or beverage with someone across the globe. The idea being let’s just say that you are at Starbucks and are just about to order that large coffee worth about 5 bucks and you are alone and decide that you want virtual company then you can go to the app and donate say 3 dollars to the (Let’s call it breaking bread app for now) app and three dollars will go towards providing food to someone else on the planet in need.

How it works is the app will allow you to purchase tokens, say each token will represent 50 cents and will appear on you phone bill at the end of the month. All the funds will go directly to the three largest food distribution companies with global reach who will in turn partner up with the the largest charities who are already distributing food on a global scale. Also for North America, every city has food banks and a certain portion from the global drive should also be distributed at home as there are many in need in Canada and the United States.

The idea behind this APP is that we can all help in a small way and it all adds up. Today everyone has a smart phones and imagine if you were able to get 50 cents from one hundred million people every month to put towards feeding the hungry. Anything after that is just multiples.

Well we put the idea out there. We can only hope that someone has the time and the means to take this idea and make it there own. I’d use this App.
