Welcome to our Equilibrium Blog!!!!

28 November 2014

Equilibrium may refer to the condition of a system in which all competing influences are balanced, in a wide variety of contexts. Have you read the news lately? There seems to be more truth (however not proven in a court of law yet) coming out on every subject from Politics to Entertainment. It is crazy, how much information is being sourced and presented to the public and everyone is contributing their part it’s almost like an offline Wikipedia. I got to say some of the stuff coming out is rather disappointing if it’s true. I guess the one good thing about pre-social media is that if we wanted to believe that those folks that hold high status positions in our society also held the highest moral authority and we really would never know otherwise because it would just be kept out of the media through some back door deal.

Today, most people don’t make great efforts to protect secrets, especially those which cause harm to others. In fact, if you are dumb enough to do the crime then chances are you are on your own. What is astounding, however, is the sheer impact of social media on current events. Years ago, there would be an article written on a particular situation in the media it might first come to light in print then it might make the evening news if the situation had enough traction. However, today with the internet these stories are like a forest fire which just keeps on growing and growing and the more you try to fan the flames the bigger the story gets.

What this means in the future is people will do much less bad behavior which brings us back to the title of our blog Equilibrium. More and more organizations are realizing that there really is no such thing as closed door policy anymore. Someone is going to speak out and even if the accusations against you or your company are not true it doesn’t matter. When it comes to the internet where there is smoke there is fire and all the negative publicity can help put you or your company in the spotlight. However, if they find something that they weren’t looking for and it’s not flattering then it will cause damage.

Bottom line is that I really think this new state of public awareness will create a more regulated and fair playing field. I mean we all want to just live full, fun and productive lives to the best of our own personal individual abilities. Most of us probably don’t mind that we might never own a private jet that flies us around the world to our various homes. But what I think would cause us huge discomfort is if the people doing these things are also behaving very badly and hiding behind the two rule, rule (which is or I should say was as times are changing) It is a set of rules for those at the very top of the food chain and another set for everyone else.

“Persons appear to us according to the light we throw upon them from our own minds. -Laura Ingalls Wilder, author (1867-1957)”

“Striking a balance in life is tough, but trying to strike balance and remain fair in the face of imbalance and oppression is even tougher.”
