Welcome to our We Gen Blog!
It is evident that the world is changing and change has always traditionally been uncomfortable for the human race. Corporate greed has left a long trail of communal and social disconnect and we are seeing the end of the “Me” generation becoming a distant memory and we are now entering the “We” generation by default as we have no choice but to fix our economic woo’s through coming together as a society and helping one another. Long gone are those days of companies going after profit only and not the benefit and economic development of society as a whole.
“Million dollar neighbourhood” is a new social experiment reality tv show on OWN network which follows a community in a suburb as they try to work together for the betterment of the community as a whole in the same way communities functioned 60 years ago, where everyone pitched in to help grow the whole community and give help to those who can’t help themselves. I think we will start seeing allot of these types of trends in human behaviour more out of necessity than choice, I personally think that if we start thinking like a community instead of trying to take advantage of one another we will thrive and create a better world for future generations. While I like to profit and win at business, I do not see the benefit of winning if the cost is the destruction of the quality of life for future generations.
“Everything happens for a reason” I think that everything happens for a reason in life and sometimes the reason does not show itself for a long period of time before we can make sense of it. Right out of high school I went on an exchange program to Harvard in Boston and had an opprtunity to attend an Ivy League school however as faith would have it I was forced to figure it out myself, a few years later and allot of hard won lessons, I would ask myself how would my life had turned out had I gotten my chance to attent Harvard and my close friends simply say, “it wasen’t meant to be” Sometimes in life things happen to us and we may think that it is the end of the world and that life as we know it is over, when this very thing is the most important thing at that particular time in our life to set us on our life’s journey. The economy is changing and society is moving forward, with Face Book’s ability to topple dictators in the Middle East we clearly need to figure out a more substansive way in which to gouvern society’s subjects. Face Book has become the new town hall where like minded friends and aquaintances come together to catch up and commiserate about social woo’s.
With mediums like Face Book, the We generation is here to stay, we can help the world by helping each other since it is pretty clear that we all more or less want the same things no matter where you are from, Love, A home, Gainful employment, and the ability to care for our family. The Porche and the super model girlfriend would be nice however not necessary to our overall quality of life. I leave you with a great quote from my favorite athlete.
“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company… a church… a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past… we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you… we are in charge of our Attitudes.”~Lindsay Messina
