Hot Wheels, Family Brunch, and a Whole Lot of Fun

This past weekend, Dee and I had the pleasure of heading over to my father’s place for a classic family brunch. You know the type—good food, plenty of laughs, and just the right mix of chaos that comes with everyone being together.

But this brunch had a little extra twist. Between the quiche and the bagels and lox, Huey and I pulled out the Hot Wheels cars we bought as Chris Kringle gifts for the family. We carefully selected Porsches and Ferraris—only the good stuff. Not just one or two, but a whole little collection ready to be traded, grabbed, and laughed over.

Before long, the room was buzzing. Everyone instantly tapped into that childhood feeling—the excitement of picking a favorite car, comparing colours, calling dibs, and negotiating playful trades. It was simple, silly, and absolutely perfect.

Dee and I looked on with pride and joy as the attendees got super excited about revisiting their childhood through their Hot Wheels gift. Watching everyone light up over something so small and nostalgic was honestly the best part of the whole day.

It’s moments like this that make family time feel extra special. The laughter, the tiny surprises, and yes—even the miniature cars—are the things you remember long after everyone heads home.
