Fall Is Here: The Halloween Hot Wheels Have Arrived
There are certain little signs that tell you Halloween Hot Wheels season has arrived. The temperature starts to drop. The leaves quietly begin changing colour. And for us collectors, there is one more sure sign: the Halloween Hot Wheels start showing up on store pegs.
Just this past weekend, right around the beginning of September, all those signs came together.
Fall is here.
And that means one of my favourite times of the year has officially begun.
It Starts With a Change in the Air
There is something about early September that feels different.
The summer heat starts to fade. The mornings feel a little cooler. You can look around and notice the first hints of colour starting to appear in the trees.
It happens quietly.
Then, before you know it, fall has arrived.
For DeeMoney and me, fall also means something else.
Halloween Hot Wheels.
Every year, we start keeping an eye on the pegs around this time. We know that somewhere out there, the Halloween cars are getting ready to make their appearance.
And this year was no different.
DeeMoney Heads to Port Elgin
Just as fall was starting to make its appearance, DeeMoney headed up to Port Elgin to visit her family.
That meant we were both keeping an eye out for the Halloween Hot Wheels.
Because if you are a Hot Wheels collector, you know how this works.
You don’t necessarily go looking for something specific.
You just happen to be in a store.
You walk past the toy aisle.
You glance at the pegs.
And then suddenly…
There they are.
A Saturday Morning Surprise
On my way to the office last Saturday, I decided to do what I always do.
I stopped in to check the pegs.
You never really know what you are going to find.
Maybe there will be nothing new.
Maybe there will be a few interesting cars.
Or maybe, just maybe, you will walk in at exactly the right time.
That Saturday was one of those days.
I walked in and there they were.
Front and centre.
Four sets of five Halloween Hot Wheels were just sitting there on the pegs.
Four sets.
Five cars in each.
And I didn’t need much time to make a decision.
Two Sets Came Home With Me
I quickly grabbed two sets.
One for DeeMoney.
And one for me.
That’s one of the things I love about collecting Hot Wheels with DeeMoney. When something special comes along, it isn’t just about adding another car to the collection.
It becomes part of the experience.
We have been collecting together for years now, and finding new releases is always exciting.
Sometimes it is a Treasure Hunt.
Sometimes it is a favourite car.
Sometimes it is a casting we have been waiting to see.
And sometimes it is a complete Halloween set sitting right there in front of you.
You have to grab it when you see it.
And Just Like That… Fall Has Begun
There was something about walking into the store and seeing those Halloween Hot Wheels that made it official.
Summer is winding down.
The leaves are starting to change.
The air is getting cooler.
DeeMoney is visiting family in Port Elgin.
And the Halloween Hot Wheels have hit the pegs.
For me, that is when fall really begins.
It isn’t just the calendar telling me that the season has changed.
It is those little moments.
The first cool morning.
The first colourful leaves.
The first Halloween decorations.
And, of course, the first Halloween Hot Wheels of the season.
Why These Little Finds Are So Much Fun
One of the best things about collecting Hot Wheels is that you never quite know what a quick stop at the store might turn into.
You can walk in expecting nothing.
Then you spot something you weren’t expecting.
That little bit of excitement never really goes away.
It is part of what makes collecting fun.
And when you collect with someone else, it makes those discoveries even better.
For DeeMoney and me, these cars are more than just little die-cast vehicles.
They are memories.
They are the fun of finding something together.
They are the stories we tell later.
And sometimes, they are the perfect reminder that you don’t have to do anything complicated to have a great day.
Sometimes you just need to stop and check the pegs.
Bring On Halloween
Now that the Halloween Hot Wheels have arrived, I think it is safe to say that we are officially heading into my favourite time of year.
There will be more store stops.
More peg hunting.
More surprises.
More Hot Wheels.
And probably a few more cars that somehow find their way home with us.
That’s part of the fun.
So if you are a Hot Wheels collector, keep your eyes open.
You never know when that next great find is going to be sitting right there on the pegs.
And if you happen to see those Halloween Hot Wheels?
Well…
You better grab them.
Ready to Start Your Own Fall Hot Wheels Hunt?
Fall is here, and the Halloween Hot Wheels are already making their way onto store pegs.
Whether you are a longtime collector, just getting started, or hunting for Hot Wheels with your kids or family, now is a great time to start checking those pegs.
Keep hunting. Keep collecting. And most of all, have fun with it.
Because sometimes the best Hot Wheels memories start with a simple Saturday stop at the store.
Happy hunting!
